November 2006

Greetings in the love of Jesus.

It has been some time since the last newsletter because I have been out of the country and have not had the time to write until now.

As we enter the holiday season I want to say that I am so grateful to all of you that have been a part of the harvest and ministry of World Outreach. Thank you.

I have just returned from a strategic trip to Africa.

It was a great joy to be with our CLIBC Director, Dr. Cesar Bezamahouta, in Douala, Cameroon. It has been 5 years since we were in this nation and I was excited to see the spiritual progress. We now have over 530 students under the supervision of the Douala office.

The pastor that we turned the Yaounde Crusade to in 2001 now has seen large growth in his church and is holding crusades with signs following throughout Cameroon. Since then he is one of our graduates with a very high grade point average.

Douala, Cameroon Conference

In Douala we held a Leadership Conference with over 1200 delegates. There was a wonderful presence of the Lord in each of the services. Dr. Cesar Bezamahouta spoke with me in the morning sessions, bringing a powerful prophetic revelation.

God moved by His Spirit touching many, lifting and encouraging these great servants of the Lord, and bringing healing. Several were healed of tumors and growths, hearing loss, crippling conditions, a deaf mute, and some from AIDS.

In one service God healed five people at once that were deaf in one ear, including one man who was born deaf in his right ear.

On Sunday after the Leadership Conference I preached in a local church where God moved in a powerful way. There were many healings and words of knowledge for people.

The church was especially excited about a lady in their congregation that was born deaf mute. The Lord gave me a word of knowledge about someone that was deaf and this lady was brought forward. The entire congregation was able to watch as I prayed and immediately she received her hearing and her speech.

It is always amazing to see the Lord extend His hand in healing. The impact of this miracle upon one known by the congregation lifted the church into new realms of faith and greatly encouraged them for the harvest that God is opening to the nation of Cameroon.

The growing influence of CLIBC in Cameroon and the effectiveness of our graduates are making a difference in this nation. As a result, one of our graduates has donated some land for CLIBC on a very busy street from the seaport to the airport.

This is the busiest street in Douala and a very good piece of land. We are grateful for this gift from the Lord.

In addition to the Leadership Conference I spoke at this year's Graduation for CLIBC. Most of our students are pastors seeking development and training. During the graduation several students spoke of the great impact CLIBC has had upon their lives and ministries.

We are grateful for each one and pray for God's blessing upon them to make them effective in Cameroon.

A KAIROS MOMENT
It was my privilege to be the main speaker once again at the Celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles Conference in Kinshasa, DRC.

This was a strategic moment in the history of this nation as the conference was held the week before the runoff elections for this nation. The BBC has called this the most significant election since the end of apartheid in South Africa.

It is hoped that the election run-off in the Democratic Republic of Congo will end a period stretching back some 130 years, marked by a succession of brutal and astonishingly corrupt regimes.

World Outreach has a history of impacting this nation prophetically over the last few years. Some of the high points are:
  • In July 1998 in a Leadership Conference in Kinshasa David Houtsma prophesied a number of things including the beginning of a war in the DRC. This war began 2 weeks later with details according to the prophecy.
  • In October 2001 in the Feast of Tabernacles Conference in Kinshasa Dr. Houtsma prophesied that this year would be the end of the war that had brought death to between 4-5 million people in the DRC. That year a peace accord was established.
  • In October 2001 in the Feast of Tabernacles Conference in Kinshasa David Houtsma had an extensive prophecy concerning the end of the war through a coalition government. In Africa there has never been a coalition government previously, yet this is how the peace was achieved.
  • These prophecies were presented to the President and his Cabinet.
Now I was back in Kinshasa the week before the final runoff election. During this week I had the privilege of meeting with 3 of the countries Vice Presidents (part of the coalition design) including John Pierre Bemba running against Joseph Kabila for President.

The Lord gave me a prophetic word to Mr. Bemba, letting him know he would lose the election (despite the expectation of his success in Kinshasa). The were many details in the word from the Lord and counsel for this important man.

This was an end of a cycle for the DRC and a new day is dawning. It is our hope that progress will be made to develop infrastructure and opportunity for this nation.

Friends, it is because of your faithfulness in prayer and giving that World Outreach has had the opportunity to contribute to this great move of God in both the harvest of souls and the raising of leadership.

I want to thanks you in behalf of all those you have helped and it is my prayer that God will pour out of His Spirit in our life and bless you abundantly according to how you have blessed Him and the nations.

PAKISTAN CHRISTIAN LIVE INTERNATIONAL BIBLE COLLEGE
The Bible College has begun in Pakistan and is expanding. We now have 110 English speaking students with another 50 ready to begin next month.

In January we have another 300 students that will begin in the Urdu language. This will bring us to more than 450 students in Pakistan.

The Urdu translation project is in full swing. This is a great challenge as it will cost us about $20,000 to fully prepare the curriculum in Urdu. As yet we have not raised any funds for this project. Please pray about contributing to this great opportunity to prepare an army of servants to bring the gospel to Pakistan.

DEVOTION
1 Timothy 1:5
5 NOW THE END OF THE COMMANDMENT IS LOVE OUT OF A pure heart, AND OF A good conscience, AND OF faith unfeigned:
The end of God's commandment to men is love. We are to learn to love God and to love one another. Whatever tends to weaken either our love for God or love to man tends to defeat the end of the commandment and the gospel, which obliges us to love our enemies and to do good to those who hate us (MT. 5:44).

This may be stated as:
  • to know the love of God and to love God.
  • to love each other as brothers in the Lord.
  • to love the lost of the world so much that we are driven to take the gospel to them.
But note where this kind of love comes from. Its source is not found in men; it does not just arise out of the heart of man. The love which we are to know and possess comes from three sources.
  • LOVE comes from a pure heart: a heart forgiven by God and cleansed from all impurities; a heart that is not weighed down by selfishness, worldliness, envy, covetousness, and immorality.
  • comes from a good conscience: a conscience that knows there is nothing between it and God, between it and men; a conscience that knows it has been true to God's Word and has taught no error.
  • Love comes from unfeigned or sincere faith: a faith that is set upon God and His Word, that holds to God's Word and trusts and teaches God's Word as our highest source of faith and practice.
There are three sources of real LOVE:
  1. In Matthew 5:8, Jesus said, "Blessed are the pure in heart." A PURE HEART is devoted to God and free from guilt and corruption. We must keep ourselves morally straight. God purifies us, but there is action we must take to keep morally fit. Daily application of God's Word has a purifying effect on our heart and mind. It enables us to love freely.

A PURE HEART comes from the word katharos which came to be used of corn that had been winnowed and cleansed from all chaff. It was used of an army that had been purified of all cowardly and undisciplined soldiers until there was nothing left but first-class fighting men. It was used of something that was without any debasing mixture.

So then a pure heart is a heart whose motives are absolutely pure and absolutely unmixed.

  2. In order to love properly, our conscience must be clear. First, it must be clean from unconfessed sin so that guilt doesn't hinder us. Second, our motives must be free from pride and personal gain. Then we can love openly.

    PURE CONSCIENCE
    Acts 24:16
16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.
    Proverbs 11:3
3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
A PURE CONSCIENCE leads us to refer everything to God and it imparts stability and consistency to our direction and character.

It keeps us in His presence, in communion with Him. It causes truth received to be worked out in our life.

A good and healthy conscience comes from living a righteous and godly life before God. A bad and defiled conscience comes from living an unrighteous and ungodly life in this world. If a person violates his conscience (does wrong), his conscience pricks and nags him. He feels remorse, regret, and guilt. If he corrects his behavior and asks God for forgiveness, God removes the guilt-completely and totally.

If he continues to violate his conscience, the conscience becomes hardened. It no longer directs the person. The pricking and nagging and pull to do right is dulled. The person becomes calloused and hardened to righteousness. He no longer has the direction of conscience and the consciousness of what is right. He is left alone in the world to walk in unrighteousness and ungodliness just as he wills.

  3. When we attempt to love others without our FAITH sincerely based in Christ, our efforts to minister become hollow and self-serving. SINCERE FAITH enables us to love genuinely. UNFEIGNED FAITH speaks of a life that lives out and behaves in genuine faith. This involves an OBEDIENCE TO THE FAITH.

As we come to know truth God want us to come to obey the truth from the heart.

Promotion in the kingdom of God is dependent upon our obedience to the faith. Faith is the principle by which we obtain life. Obedience is the principle by which that life is lived out.

The eyes of the disobedient are quite sharp, but all they see is the barrenness of the wilderness.

Those who proceed by faith may appear to be blind, for they seemingly do not notice the barrenness before them, yet their eyes of faith see the promise which lies ahead and thus enter Canaan.

In His Love,

Roger Houtsma
